Book of Me

This set of three illustrations is designed to accompany the article "The Book of Me" by Richard Powers. The depicted content discusses the ethical issues surrounding DNA sequencing and the ways in which it may lead to the disruption of self-concept in the near future. As one reads the article there is an overwhelming realization of the eminent deterioration of the self. Chromosomes and genetic material symbolically begin to overtake distinguishable facial structure as a human becomes aware of their body's scientifically analyzed future.

Seeking Pious Individuals

This photograph is a visualization of the Craigslist advertisement Seeking pious individuals for the coming rapture on May 22nd, 2011. In an exploration of voice and symbolic form, the satiric author of the post is personified as a fast food idolizer.

These references to Christian ritual and extremist ideology are compared visually with the recognized artifacts our culture is simultaneously addicted to. The image was created using four McDonald's hamburgers, one order of small fries, two packets of ketchup, one McDonald's bag, one package of candy letter cake decorations, one devil costume headband and found berries.
